Article in RA News: Scuse me while I kiss this guy
Who doesn't love love? Summer is always a perfect time for romance, which makes it the perfect time to blatantly self-promote!
Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy: Guy-centric YA romance is the featured article in the June 2008 edition of Readers' Advisor News. I've noticed that in the last few years more and more guy-centric romances for teens have been published and become popular. My personal theory is that the books are following movies, but you can read a little more about that in the article.
And feel free to add your favorite guy romances in the comments!

Hi Carlie! It was super-exciting to meet you at ALA and a good reminder that I need to be a better commentor, so here I am! :)
That was a great article, I think you really touched on some key appeal and reason for this trend.
I'd also like to mention two books that feature guy's POV and are somewhat similar:
Hail Caesar by Thu-Huong Ha and Played by Dana Davidson.
They focus on how guys who are "players" learn how to deal with the consequences and impact of having a "real" relationships. Hail Caesar, especially, has proven to be a big hit with my TAG.
Also, might we consider that this trend traces back to Rob Thomas's brilliant Rats Saw God?
Thanks for writing this!

Angie, your comment is muchly appreciated! Thanks for commenting about those two books; I haven't read either of them, which is completely pathetic considering they were both nominated for Popular Paperbacks (but only one is in my library system).
Rats Saw God IS brilliant. I think it opened the doors for a lot of guy-centric romance. I also think it regained a little popularity back when Veronica Mars was still on. I'm sure there are a lot of factors that contribute to guy romance popularity and RSG is one of them.
