52 Influential Photographs

Found via the indispensable Pop Candy, this collection of iconic photos is fascinating. Some of them I knew quite well, and some I'd never seen or even heard of. As much as I love lolcats, I'm not sure that the lolcat photo really qualifies as iconic, though.

Just opened my Radar Magazine that arrived the other day in the mail, and they say that Huynh Cong Ut - who took the pohotograph Napalm Strike (1972) also took the picture of Paris Hilton crying in her car 35 years TO THE DAY after he took that iconic one. Phew.

I heard that, too! What an insane juxtaposition of subjects & subject matter. Is that wht he really wants to be doing? Paris Hilton paparazzi photos? Yeesh.

Thanks for bringing this site to my attention. I had seen most over the years, but seeing them together was like a history of the last 100 years or so (didn't catch dates of the earliest). Cathy
